Board of Director opportunities at Hennepin Healthcare

Hennepin Healthcare, Minnesota’s largest safety-net health care system, is looking for candidates to serve on its Board of Directors beginning in January 2024.

Hennepin Healthcare is a nationally recognized system of care that includes HCMC, a Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with the largest emergency department in Minnesota. The comprehensive health care system includes a medical center and public teaching hospital in downtown Minneapolis, a network of clinics in Minneapolis and suburban communities, EMS, home care, a research institute, and a philanthropic foundation. Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. is a public corporation operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Hennepin County.

The primary responsibility of the 14-member board is to oversee and guide the organization to achieve its safety net mission related to quality, strategy, finance, and managerial performance. The board is also responsible for self-monitoring and advocacy. The board fulfills its responsibility by adopting specific outcome targets to measure the organization’s performance and by regularly reviewing and monitoring programs and activities against the organization’s mission and values.

Members of the board possess a high degree of experience and knowledge in relevant fields and an   interest in the organization and support for its mission. The board is seeking is candidates with expertise in:

  • Governance of healthcare system or large businesses
  • Construction/Redevelopment
  • Financial Management and Investment
  • Strategic Planning
  • Human Resources
  • Community Advocacy
  • Lived experience in historically marginalized groups
