HCMC Security Department gets high marks in national rankings
The Security team at Hennepin County Medical Center was recently recognized for its work to keep HCMC employees, visitors and staff safe by being ranked 18th out of a group of 80 hospital security departments in Security Magazine’s 2012 Security 500 Rankings.
The rankings are measured and evaluated on metrics among peer organizations, and Security Magazine tracks and collects unique date from 18 vertical markets.
“We strive to make HCMC a safe and secure place to work and visit,” explains Marty Williams, Director of Security and Parking at HCMC. “Our highly trained staff are skilled and credentialed beyond what’s required, and we provide seamless security coverage 24/7.”
A hospital can be a stressful environment for patients and families who are concerned about their own — or a loved one’s — health. HCMC’s Security Department understands this, and that’s why they focus on providing a safe and secure environment. “The last thing we want anyone to be concerned about is their safety when they’re here for medical care,” says Williams. “We want to reassure visitors, patients and staff that HCMC is a safe place to receive health care, visit and work.”
The purpose of the Security Magazine rankings is to create a reliable database to measure organizations against others and create a benchmarking program among security organizations.
HCMC has at least 5 security officers and one Duty Security Supervisor on duty at all times on its downtown campus, and the Security Department manages all security operations at its downtown campus and HCMC-owned community clinics.
