Bernie the Rescue Dog warmly welcomed at HCMC

Bernie the Rescue Dog got a warm welcome from staff, patients and visitors when he began his residency at Hennepin County Medical Center today.

Arriving in one of HCMC’s ambulances, Bernie bow-wowed his fans who were waiting for him in the Emergency Department with KARE 11 News photographer Tom Cornell.  After being introduced to HCMC management, Bernie went upstairs to do his first rounds in the Pediatrics Department where he met lots of wonderful children and their families.

Some friends from WCCO 4 News – Dennis Douda and Garrett Young – also stopped by to get some shots of Bernie on his first day. He then made tracks for the Cafeteria to hand out bone-shaped cookies to staff and guests during lunchtime.

All in all, a busy day for the new resident. Now it’s time for Bernie to take a cat nap and rest up for his residency training at HCMC. Welcome, Bernie!
