Suzanne Begin named VP of Philanthropy of HCMC, President of Hennepin Health Foundation

Healthcare philanthropy professional Suzanne Norberg Begin joins the executive leadership team at Hennepin County Medical Center as the VP of Philanthropy and President of the Hennepin Health Foundation.

A Minnesota native, Begin spent the last 23 years in Atlanta, Georgia where she worked with former President Jimmy Carter supporting community–based programming for family and children in the impoverished areas of the city, served as the executive director of the Henry W. Grady Health Foundation raising funds for Atlanta’s safety-net hospital, and CEO of The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, the two-county hospital authority charged with oversight of Grady Health System.

In addition to her career, Begin has committed herself to a path of life-long learning. She holds a MA from Fielding Graduate University in Human and Organizational Systems, an MBA from Kennesaw State University and a BS in occupational therapy and pastoral ministry from St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul, MN.  She also holds professional credentials of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Certified Grants Professional (GPC), and Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE).

The Hennepin Health Foundation guides those in the community who wish to support the mission of the Hennepin County Medical Center to provide the best possible care to every patient, search for new ways to improve care, educate health care providers, and ensure access to healthcare for all.

Hennepin County Medical Center is a nationally recognized Level 1 Adult Trauma Center and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with the largest emergency department in Minnesota. The comprehensive academic medical center and public teaching hospital includes a 477-bed acute care hospital and primary care and specialty clinics located in downtown Minneapolis, five primary care clinics in Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Richfield and in Minneapolis in the Whittier Neighborhood and on East Lake Street, retail clinics in Bloomington and Eden Prairie, an employee clinic in the Hennepin County Government Center, and a Neurology and Specialty Clinic in the 212 Medical Center in Chaska.

For the fifteenth year in a row, Hennepin County Medical Center is listed in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of the top U.S. Hospitals in its annual “America’s Best Hospitals” report.
