Acupuncture as a treatment for women’s health concerns

On Thursday, May 10, Tara Gustilo, MD will discuss the use of acupuncture as a treatment for various health concerns as women increasingly opt for complementary and integrative medical therapies.

The public is invited to Dr. Gustilo’s lecture which  begins at 6:00 pm at the Excelen Auditorium at 700 10th Ave. S. and will be preceded by a reception with light refreshments beginning at 5:30 pm in the Excelen atrium.

Dr. Gustilo will discuss the traditional theories upon which acupuncture is based, what is known about the physiologic effects of acupuncture and also the evidence supporting the efficacy of acupuncture for many different medical conditions.

The program is sponsored by Minnesota Medical Association, Hennepin Medical History Center and the Hennepin County Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as part of the educational series, “Healthy Women, Healthy World.”  The series focuses attention on women’s health care in Minnesota and features leading experts who will provide a glimpse back at the history of health care for women in the state as well as provide information about current issues.

Dr. Gustilo is on staff with Hennepin County Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
