HCMC Burn Center tapped to benefit from Rock Bottom brew

Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery in Minneapolis (800 LaSalle Plaza) will host its annual Fire Chief Ale tapping party on Thursday, March 8 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with proceeds from the fundraising event to benefit the Burn Center at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). HCMC’s Burn Center is a regional resource providing care for burn injury, frostbite, hypothermia, inhalation injury, plastic reconstruction, complex wounds, major skin abrasions and surgical procedures.

Representatives from HCMC, some burn victims,  and some local firefighters will be present at the party selling donation slips for $1, $5 and $10. In addition, HCMC’s Burn Center will also receive .25 cents from every pint of Fire Chief Ale purchased. The party is open to the public and attendees can sample the beer and taste some of the new menu items offered by Rock Bottom.

Local fire departments rely on HCMC’s Burn Unit to care for firefighters and other victims of burn injuries. For the past 5 years, they have chosen HCMC to benefit from the annual fundraiser.

Nationwide, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Breweries have raised nearly $2 million in donations for local fire departments and related charities for the past 16 years.

Comprised of an 17-bed inpatient unit and the Acute Burn and Wound Clinic, the Burn Center occupies a newly remodeled, 16,000-square-foot space on HCMC’s downtown Minneapolis campus.  The highly trained, multidisciplinary Burn Center team works closely with patients and families in a supportive, state-of-the-art environment to meet their unique needs and achieve the highest level of functioning. Treating an average of 10 inpatients per day and 20+ patients per day in the clinic, HCMC’s Burn Center is one of the busiest centers in the nation.
